Editing subtitles
Right after auto subtitles transcription, first thing you should do is to adjust the subtitles' timings and contents. The translation step should come next, after all the timings are correct for the original language of the video.
KioStudio has a complete subtitles editor, with the following features:
- Adjust timing using a convenient slider, with the help of sound waves
- Add/delete subtitles
- Edit subtitles texts
- Download subtitles in SRT, VTT or TXT formats
1. Start editing
Before editing, you need to turn on edit mode. This is an intended mechanism to avoid any conflicts when two users editing the same video at the same time (in case you share the video with other collaborators). When you turn on the edit mode, the video is locked for only you to edit.
Click on the button as indicated below (arrow 1) to turn on edit mode, it will switch from OFF to ON
Also ensure you have selected the right language that you want to edit. This can be selected using the menu (three vertical dots) at arrow 2 below.
2. Adjust timings
When you adjust timings, try to take advantage of both tools as shown below, including:
- Time slider (arrow 1)
- Sound wave chart (arrow 2)
When you adjust the time slider, the subtitle's timing shall change accordingly on the sound wave chart. You can instantly recognize the start and stop point of a voice sentence by looking at the sound save.
Beside each subtitle segment is a menu (three vertical dots) as shown in arrow 3, with this menu you can add subtitle segments or delete the current segment.
After adjusting, click on "Save"
3. Edit subtitle contents
After the edit mode is turned on, all the subtitles text box shall become editable. Make any changes as you wish, then click "Save"
